Praised for singing with “gorgeous vulnerability” (The Richmond Times). Olivia Yokers is well regarded for her thrilling voice and versatility onstage. Ms. Yokers has performed pieces spanning from Mozart to Rodgers and Hammerstein, as well as Philip Glass. Company engagements include Las Vegas Opera, Pacific Opera Project, Dayton Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Painted Sky Opera, Virginia Opera, and Charlottesville Opera. Her most notable roles are Musetta in La Bohème, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance (Dayton Opera, Tulane Summer Lyric, Utah Festival Opera), Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Dayton Opera, Chance Opera Theatre), Cinderella in Into the Woods (Utah Festival Opera), Miss Honey in Matilda (Oklahoma Lyric Theatre) and Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Virginia Opera). As an advocate for new music, Ms. Yokers has performed in the premieres of works such as Emily Clements’ Letters to Lily and the professional debut of Paul Fowler’s Behold the Man with Las Vegas Opera. In 2024, Ms. Yokers was featured on composer Jennifer Bellor’s album Long These Days, performing Bellor’s song cycle A Smile and a Sigh. The album is now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms.
She has performed as a soloist in various concerts and oratorios including, Haydn’s Creation, Mozart’s Vespers solemnes, John Rutter’s Mass of the Children, Ralph Vaughan William’s Dona Nobis Pacem, and Handel’s Messiah. Ms. Yokers awards include, the title of Cincinnati Opera Idol, first prize in both the Dayton Opera Guild Competition and Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Colligate Competition, and first place at the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Guild Voice Competition.
Ms. Yokers is the Director of Opera and Assistant Professor of Voice at Stetson University. When she’s not performing, teaching, or directing, she enjoys spending time with her two cats, her dog, and her husband, Andre.
